Traumatic Brain Injury ( TBI ) Unit Director - Licensed Social Worker


Position Overview:  The Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Unit Director provides leadership, oversight, and coordination of a specialized skilled nursing unit serving residents with traumatic brain injuries and complex neurological conditions. The Director is responsible for ensuring high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, interdisciplinary collaboration, program development, behavioral management, family engagement, and achievement of operational goals.


The ideal candidate is a Licensed Social Worker with experience in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, behavioral health, or neurological services and possesses a passion for improving outcomes and quality of life for individuals recovering from traumatic brain injuries.


Key Responsibilities: 

  •    
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary care planning and resident-centered treatment approaches.
  • Collaborate with nursing, therapy, psychology, psychiatry, and medical providers to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Develop and implement individualized behavioral and psychosocial interventions.
  • Monitor resident progress and support successful goal attainment.

Requirements

Required

  • Current Illinois Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work.
  • Minimum of 3 years of healthcare experience, preferably in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, behavioral health, or neurological services.
  • Experience working with individuals with traumatic brain injuries, cognitive impairments, or complex behavioral health needs.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and long-term care regulations.


Preferred

  • Previous leadership or management experience.
  • Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) credential or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience in neurobehavioral programming or post-acute rehabilitation.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care principles and behavioral support strategies.
