Job Description Summary:

This role involves designing, building, and managing the BCBSA Network Infrastructure and Cloud environments. The role ensures data security and network reliability by implementing best practices. Responsibilities include planning and leading network projects, designing network architectures, and integrating new technologies. The engineer also evaluates new products, resolves network issues, and maintains technical documentation.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide expertise and recommend solutions to address business needs related to network systems. Interpret customer requirements through feedback, analysis, and interviews.
  • Implement and deploy network systems designs. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to network systems implementation. Develop and communicate standard operating procedures and network documentation.
  • Establish strategic network systems architecture by developing detailed corporate standards and processes necessary for systems design.
  • Gather requirements from business partners to design solutions that meet business needs. Develop business continuity and recovery plans. Design and implement network security measures.
  • Lead, manage, or participate in various IT and corporate projects related to network systems administration.
  • Provide daily support to customers by handling routine requests from the Help Desk, maintaining service levels, and ensuring the availability of IT resources. Manage all issues related to network systems.

The posting range for this position is:
$131,908.00-$189,737.99
 

Required Education, Certifications and Experience:



Education

  • Required Bachelor's Degree in a technical or business discipline or equivalent work experience.

Experience

  • Required 7+ Years progressive technical work experience in technology configuration, deployment, and systems integration
  • Experience with Cloud Computing and data center technologies.
  • Experience in creating, documenting, and communicating architectural designs for complex systems.
  • Experienced in creating, documenting, and communicating architectural designs for complex systems.
  • Minimum Four years of experience in designing, implementing, and operating technologies such as routing, switching, wireless, firewalls, and load balancers.


Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Expert in networking protocols and the design/configuration of large-scale voice/data networking infrastructures (e.g., Routers, Switches, Servers, Firewalls, VPNs, load balancers).
  • Deep understanding of computer and networking security solutions, threats, and countermeasures (e.g., Firewalls, Access Lists, VPN, Intrusion Detection/Prevention).
  • Proficient in data network capacity planning and protocol analysis.
  • Knowledgeable in data center design and Cisco infrastructure.
  • Ability to recommend, design, and implement automation/SDN within a security context.
  • Skilled in producing documentation for IT projects, including as-built, process, procedure, and life cycle management documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and outside standard work hours.
  • Effective in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of current and emerging technologies.
  • Preferred KSAs: Knowledge of Python or scripting programming. Knowledge of Microsegmentation, Cloud networking, network security architectures. Understanding of operational business practices and healthcare technology. Ability to work effectively in a large, complex corporate environment. Advanced technical problem-solving skills across platforms, applications, and networking devices. Understanding of distributed systems architecture and network management systems.


Certifications & Licenses

  • Required: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) - Cisco
  • Required: CCDA - Cisco Certified Design Associate - Cisco
  • Required: MCSE - Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer - Microsoft
