Regional Infrastructure Director

The role of the Regional Infrastructure Director  requires strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, ability to self-direct, strong background in Data Center design, engineering, controls, and operational requirements and an emphasis on network infrastructure and handover  management, Data Center lease market experience, client representation and project and Project level services are required. 

The Regional Infrastructure Director is the Employer’s Representative and is responsible for the delivery of core & shell and tenant improvements for a single Data Centre project or multiple projects as may be assigned to them.

The role of the Regional Infrastructure Director  requires strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. We are seeking a Project Manager with the ability to self-direct and who has a strong background in Data Center Construction, with an emphasis on telecom project/construction management.

The Regional Infrastructure Director is responsible for the project management of all integration and fit-out activities associated with MSFT owned system portfolio in EMEA and/or services and critical infrastructure that is required to be installed into a new data center builds to deliver capacity to the business. The role requires the identification and management of scopes and interdependencies between all external and intern-al stakeholders and coordinating same with the physical construction with landlord and other vendors. The ITIM is responsible for coordinating the handover process and ensuring the required handover documentation and expectations are met to handover the space to our Operations teams and the business across the portfolio. 

The ITIM is responsible for producing and managing project plans and executing major milestones (Early Access, Ready Network Install, Corpnet Live, Security CX Complete, Fit Out Complete, Lockdown, Colo Ready) and for the financial approval and management function of these tasks on Microsoft lease projects.

The key responsibilities of the ITIM regional manger  includes, but is not limited to:

• Coordination, best practice including lessons learnt management of the sub regional ITIM Managers 
• Management of support staff and the allocation of projects and scopes to the support and FTE ITIM staff 
• The Regional Infrastructure Director will be a relentless advocate for managing a safe worksite , supporting the implementation of the Microsoft High Risk Activity (HRA) program and work with our Construction PM to deliver trade collaboration methods to improve safe working and co-ordination of the job sites.
• The Regional Infrastructure Director is responsible for coordinating internal Microsoft scope and resource efforts, requirements, and schedules  to ensure a smooth and timely handover of the fitted out Data Centre facility and capacity to the Microsoft Operations team and Business Groups.
• The Regional Infrastructure Director will coordinate with the Data Center Engineering (DCE) team and supporting specialty consultants to review, improve and execute the design across the portfolio
• The Regional Infrastructure Director is responsible for the coordination of the telecom materials procurement, telecoms installation, Security systems installation, FFE procurement and installation across the portfolio
• Coordination of the design, procurement, installation and turn up of the facility Corporate Network across the portfolio
• In cooperation with the sub regional construction Construction Leads this position aligns metro wide delivery strategies to local team objectives, business processes, vendor management strategies, and cross-group collaboration efforts.
• The Regional Infrastructure Director  will align with the Construction PM to agree delivery strategies across multi sites and manage a continuous improvement program that will result in a lean project delivery approach.
• The Regional Infrastructure Director will be the responsible identifying and managing stakeholder dependencies and construction deliverables and handoffs for/with Microsoft Security (DCPS), Microsoft IT (CSE), DCI NE, Networking and Integrated services.

Business Processes

• Create and/or maintain best practices to identify and incorporate cost-effective solutions in line with evolving build program specification requirements and report on KPIs for the same.
• Manage the selection, contracting, and integration of multiple vendors and internal partners.
• Drive deployment of solutions that can be socialized globally across DCD projects.
• Facilitate client/sponsor decision-making to drive solutions, schedules, and manage change as required.
• Apply influence, strategies and negotiation skills to identify options and recommend solutions.

Communication

• Regularly reviews cost and KPI metrics, invoices, process/policy communications to client partners.
• Coordinate activities of vendors, cost managers, and integration of lessons learned in support of the Construction portfolio
• Attend scheduled Integration meeting and other project meetings, and report as necessary.
• Report Project Progress on scope, schedule, and budget in relation to the Integration scope and packages as required.
• Provide weekly project status reporting to Data Center Execution standards.
• Challenge and remove barriers by working with others around a shared need or customer benefit.
• Ability to maintain a broader perspective, identify and evaluate opportunities to enhance the business through cross-group collaboration.
• Incorporate diverse perspectives to thoroughly address complex business issues.

Accountability

• Responsible for developing, managing, and reporting on scope, schedule, and budget in relation to the Integration and technical fit-out scope and packages.
• Work independently in support of the Data Center Development Project.
• Track lessons learned and identify and execute on cost down site up opportunities.
• Provide Vendor oversight and performance management, as required.
• Support Preparation of Request for Proposal (RFP’s), PER’s, and other project approval tools & templates.
• Review and approval of vendor scope of work and design review of site and building plans, as required.
• Validate vendor pay-application and invoice review and approval in line with milestone payment schedules.
• Manage compliance with prior audit results and recommendations.

Embody our Culture and Values

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND Significant years of related experience in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering OR equivalent experience.

While not required, we also look for the following Preferred Qualifications:

Solid experience working on data center projects.

Significant project management experience.

Significant people management experience.

Background Check Requirements: 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Construction Project Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across Ireland is € 113,600.00 - € 170,400.00 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
