Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support mission‑critical operations within the Department of Energy’s Network Operations Division. This role involves designing, implementing, maintaining, and securing complex network systems that ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of enterprise‑level infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
Network Analysis, Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Analyze, maintain, and optimize local and wide‑area network (LAN/WAN) systems.
  • Troubleshoot network issues, coordinate repairs, and ensure rapid restoration of services.
  • Oversee installation, testing, and evaluation of network equipment, systems, and components.
  • Ensure network performance meets operational, security, and reliability standards.
Network Engineering & Design
  • Execute complex engineering tasks involving integrated networks that include personnel, hardware, software, and support infrastructure.
  • Design and implement secure, scalable network architectures.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, diagrams, and configuration standards.
  • Support modernization efforts, upgrades, and lifecycle management of network systems.
Compliance & Operational Support
  • Provide mission‑critical support aligned with DOE/NR Orders, directives, guidelines, and policies.
  • Adapt to evolving deliverables, performance standards, and timelines as directed by DOE.
  • Ensure all work adheres to applicable laws, regulations, and cybersecurity requirements.
Training & Qualification
  • Maintain all required certifications and qualifications relevant to assigned tasks.
  • Complete periodic refresher and annual training as required by the Contracting Officer and Network Operations Manager.
  • Maintain accurate logs of training completion and compliance.
Required Qualifications
  • Proven experience in LAN/WAN engineering, network design, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of routing, switching, firewalls, and network security principles.
  • Experience with installation, testing, and evaluation of network hardware and systems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L‑Level security clearance (Q‑Level may be required).
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting federal agencies or secure facilities.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Security+, Network+, or equivalent.
  • Experience with enterprise‑level network monitoring and management tools.
  • Familiarity with DOE environments, NIST standards, or other regulated frameworks.
