We are looking for an IT Engineer to become part of our End-to-End Testing & Onboarding team in the Credit Risk area. In this team you would be testing complex changes with a broad impact on Credit Risk models and helping to improve the testing capabilities through automation.

The team

Within COO Risk, the Risk Tribe delivers insights into (credit) risk data to ensure ING provides the right Credit products. To do so, we deliver accurate data timely while improving our Credit Risk processes and IT landscape while maintaining compliant from internal IT Risk control and external regulator’s perspectives.

Vortex supports credit risk processes in ING and provides direct access to credit risk data. Vortex is an in-house developed business application, developed using multiple technologies: PL/SQL, Java, IBM MQ, XFB, Perl, WebSphere and Linux are the main technologies/platforms involved.

One of the squads in this area is E2E Testing & Onboarding. This squad performs tests on new and updated credit models which have a broad impact on the credit risk portfolio (and risk weighted assets) of ING. This team does not develop functionality but coordinates with many other parties in the area and the bank in order to perform UAT tests. It consists of Business Analysts who prepare data and functional test set and Operations Engineers who are responsible for operating Vortex, running batch files, and ensuring the results are available for impact analysis. This squad is mainly located in Amsterdam and has a few members in Pune, India.

Roles and responsibilities

As a DevOps Engineer in this squad, you will ensure the operational stability, integrity and availability of your environments and ensure high throughput of tests in a complex environment with many squads developing in parallel on the same system.

  • Coordinate release and test planning across multiple environments
  • Collaborate with business partners to validate and verify results
  • Identify and resolve problems with the system to ensure smooth operations
  • Configure environments (data and build alignment) to prepare them for test runs
  • Identify opportunities for and implement automation of deployments and operational activities
  • Determine impact of ING infra and local Platform changes and take appropriate actions
  • Participate in team Scrum events to improve the team’s operational efficiency

  • Knowledge of / experience with credit risk models is a plus
  • You have at least 3 years of experience with and knowledge of Linux systems and Oracle (or other relational) databases from an IT Operations perspective
  • Good knowledge of ITIL (certification preferred)
  • Experience with (performance) monitoring and/or debugging and/or application troubleshooting
  • Experience with shell scripting
  • Experience with Azure DevOps
  • Knowledge of IT Risk and Security principles
  • Ability to navigate complex policy, process and people-related organisational dynamics
  • Some flexibility in working hours is appreciated (no structural evening/shift work!)
