 The Tribe Private Cloud is part of Global Infrastructure, focusing on providing reliable and resilient infrastructure components in a seamless way, increasing engineering productivity and experience.  

 

The team 

As a DevOps Engineer at Tribe Private Cloud you will be working together with other colleagues in a squad and you will be responsible for development for and running of the Eventbus platform with all its components. The squad consist of a number of senior engineers, who will gladly guide you in understanding our product and always are open to new suggestions in how to improve our offering. 

 

Roles and responsibilities 

You will join the Integration Area, which main purpose is to: create, evolve and maintain shared services, components and frameworks for other tribes. Within this tribe, IT Product Owners together with the squads will be responsible for the development of components which will be used by other squads. The squads are the home base for the squad members, but hierarchically the members of squads are grouped under Chapters. Each chapter consists of members with the same expertise and this chapter is responsible for defining the roadmap for their expertise, setting the example, share the knowledge and educate other squad members. You will be working for the Chapter Integration 3. This chapter is responsible for (distributed) data solution based on Apache Kafka  

Your and the departments' main duties include: 

  • Take ownership of distributed data solutions which are used by the squads and provide consultancy on these solutions 

  • Investigate, understand and choose the right tool(s) for the job to be done and ensure that the squads are capable to use them 

  • Industrialize a data solution, so that it can be used seamlessly by the squads 

  • Continuously monitor and improve efficiency, quality and time-to-market through in-depth automation of building, testing and deployment 

  • Phasing-out data solutions that have reached the end of their life cycle

  • A degree in computer science or a comparable education on an academic level 

  • Solid understanding of operating, maintaining and developing against event driven platforms e.g. Kafka 

  • Platform engineering / Total stack experience (e.g. Linux, Ansible, Python, scripting, …) 

  • Experience with running and maintaining large scale applications in a Cloud Environment (Azure, AWS, GC) 

  • Strong conceptual understanding of the big picture is preferred 

  • Able to use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools 

  • Experienced with Agile development & Scrum 

  • Development knowledge in Java and other programming languages 

  • Comfortable with collaboration and open communication 

  • Focused on delivering quality above quantity 

  • Knowledge of other databases is preferred 

  • Ability to adopt and test new features 

  • Knowledge sharing will be expected 

  • Excellent team player 

  • Attention to details  

  • Preferably experience with some of the following: Docker, Go, K8 / OpenShift. 

  • Preferably experience with the Open Source way of working 

  • Excellent team player in an international team, quality focused, service oriented, eager to learn 

  • Excellent oral and written English skills
