Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Vice President of Cloud Engineering to lead the design, governance, and evolution of our Microsoft Azure cloud environment. This role is highly technical and will work closely with cloud architecture, security, and operations teams to implement standards, migrate workloads, and drive automation and observability across our Azure environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience in financial services, a strong understanding of cloud engineering best practices, and a passion for building scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions.

Responsibilities include:

Cloud Engineering & Architecture Implementation

  • Collaborate with cloud architects to implement modern Azure architectural patterns and standards.
  • Translate architectural concepts into actionable engineering tasks and infrastructure deployments.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of secure, scalable landing zones and workload environments.

Workload Migration & Automation

  • Lead and support the migration of on-prem and legacy workloads to Azure.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform and integrate with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Automate cloud provisioning, configuration, and policy enforcement.

FinOps & Cost Optimization

  • Support the development and implementation of FinOps practices to monitor and optimize cloud spend.
  • Collaborate with finance and operations teams to ensure cost transparency and accountability.

Observability & Monitoring

  • Help define and implement observability standards across Azure workloads.
  • Integrate logging, metrics, and tracing tools to improve visibility and performance monitoring.

Security & Compliance Support

  • Work alongside cloud security teams to ensure secure configurations and compliance with regulatory frameworks.
  • Assist in implementing role-based access controls, encryption standards, and policy enforcement.

Documentation & Repeatability

  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for cloud environments, engineering processes, and architectural decisions.
  • Develop reusable templates, scripts, and playbooks to ensure consistency and repeatability across deployments and environments.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and standardization across teams.

Qualifications

  • 6-8 years of hands-on cloud engineering experience, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience in financial services or other regulated industries preferred.
  • Proficiency in Terraform, Azure Resource Manager (ARM), and CI/CD tools.
  • Solid understanding of cloud networking, identity management, and security principles.
  • Familiarity with FinOps, cloud cost management tools, and observability platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Preferred certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, or equivalent.

Base Salary Range

$145,000- $175,000

In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible to receive discretionary bonus incentives, a comprehensive benefits package and a flexible work arrangement.  The base salary offered will be commensurate with experience and/or qualifications, industry knowledge and expertise, as well as prior training and education.
